An announcement was received from State Senator Ronald Stafford and Assemblyman Lawrence Corbett that the DOT would be installing a flashing signal at the intersection of Routes 22 and 22A in Middle Granville. The legislators had received a letter from from the Director of Traffic Engineering and Safety, Edmund J. Burke.
The letter noted: "As a result of a recent investigation of conditions carried out at the location, we find it desirable to install a flashing signal at the intersection.
"It is expected that the order for the flashing signal will be issued within 10 days, and copies of the order will be forwarded to the Town of Granville at that time, for record purposes.
"Thank you for your interest in highway safety and your concern in this particular matter is appreciated."
The decision on the part of the DOT was cited as being the result of the efforts of State Senator Stafford and Assemblyman Corbett advocating in state legislature on behalf of those in Granville who wanted increased safety at the intersection of Route 22 and 22A, by means of a flashing traffic signal.
At the start of September. the Lake and Stream Improvement division of the Department of Environmental Conservation started a new project on the Mettowee River. The improvement work was the installation of log cribbing along the river banks. The project would start where public fishing rights began at the Little League fields, and it was projected that about 500 feet of such cribbing would be installed that fall. It was also projected that another similar project was planned for 1971.
The Granville Golden Horde varsity football team got off to a good start with their playing for 1970. September 12's game was a scrimmage at home against Cambridge, and Granville won 21-6. September 19's game was another scrimmage at Queensbury, which Granville also won. The season open was away against Schuylerville, which Granville won 6-0.
